New glasses!

Published on 7 October 2023 at 15:00

My mom and sister picked me up yesterday at 1:00 p.m. and took me to Ala Moana to pick up the new distance lenses for my glasses. Here's a picture of me in them. My sister and my mom had both gotten a pair of glasses at this store, so I wanted to go there too. I forgot how they can have expensive taste, so this store was next to Louis Vitton, Neiman Marcus, and the Crazy Shirts store with the $40 t-shirts. They do have expensive store customer service, which is to say you get treated very well.

I live in an air-conditioned hospital which can get cold. It's good to go outside in the warmth of sea level Honolulu. Ideally, I would go inside after half an hour, but this errand took a total of 3 hours. So I was an overheated mass of jelly when I got back. It takes me a good sleep until I can get back to my normal body temperature. Of course, I go out with nothing on to help me cool down. Maybe this will be an incentive for my mom and sister to find the cooling things I brought with me.

When I moved, we reduced everything in my studio apartment down to about a dozen boxes. I don't have anywhere to put the stuff in my hospital room. That's another reason why I would look forward to my own room. I could surround myself with my stuff. I'm lucky that I have a wall in front of my bed instead of a curtain. Of course, the wall is cement, so I can't put a nail in it. I have some cloth things on the curtain next to me, which I technically shouldn't do, but they have let me.

Have I mentioned that I got a new roommate? It was about a week ago. She's 90, and she's alert, so that's good. My prior roommates have been hospice patients, so I am waiting to see if a hospice nurse shows up. Maybe not, though. Two of my roommates had left the room the other day. Their beds were gone, and maintenance put up new curtains. I asked my CNA if they were coming back, and she said no. I was bummed because I liked both of them. One did come back, but I'm still waiting for the second one.

It's almost 8:00 a.m., so I will be getting breakfast soon. Then I have another day of deciding between watching something or writing something for my website. You understand I am the bottleneck for new content here. Of course, I designed it that way. I made a website of all me. It really cuts into my movie watching time, but there you go.

Thx for writing this. A day in the life of Ellen P Lundquist. I had forgotten how much the hot humid weather affects you. The Glasses look good. Hope the new roommate is pleasant company.
