This is a new movie on Max directed and starring Michael Keaton. Mom and I both like him, so we watched that. It was an interesting premise about a lifetime crook who got dementia and ended up saving his son as a result. Not bad. M still had work being done on his apartment so he could not bring Humphrey. Mom and I have been doing better together lately, mainly because I am getting better about biting my tongue. Whatever. I like when we get along and if I can help that, so much the better.

Once a year, the hospital has surveyors come to evaluate they are doing everything they should and fix the things that can be fixed. Since I am part of the minority of patients who can express themselves verbally clearly, I participated in a meeting with the main surveyor. He was from Fort Worth, Texas and he asked us all kind of questions to see how we liked the facility, etc. He confirmed that there is a nationwide shortage of healthcare workers. He also said the most common complaint is about the food and our hospital has really good food. We told them about the apple bananas, which he had never heard of. We also told him to go to Foodland supermarket and try the poke there. Hawaiʻi was first in the country to have good supermarket sushi. And it can be very good. I remember getting sushi once a week from the market near me on Maui. Boy, do I miss that!

I am only OK at keeping track of my appointments. I am better at keeping track of things I need to do outside my home. When it is someone coming to me, I am less careful about that. I am always here, so I am sometimes surprised by someone showing up when I should have but did not expect them. What happened this morning was a new wrinkle on that. I had a phone appointment come up on my schedule, but I was supposed to take a shower at the same time. I really wanted to keep the appointment so I said no to the shower. And then, about an hour later, I learned that I had forgotten that the appointment had been moved to the next day. Crap! I had not deleted the old appointment or written in the new one. Way to cheat yourself out of getting clean! I immediately regretted that mistake.

I had the appointment that I thought was yesterday morning. It went really well and I got a lot out of it. I mentioned that I get annoyed about all the times I need to change because I know the other person won't. She gave me the perspective that I need to have because I am evolving and the other person isn't. It sounds a little bit snobby to me, but if that helps me do what I need to do, then great. I feel that taking on the challenge of slowly losing most of my physical capacities is in service of me evolving to a higher plane of understanding, go for it! I don't think anyone will complain. And you wonder why I am so esoteric at times.

I spent the day watching movies and not doing much of anything. Yippee!
Saturday, August 3rd
My sister had an early event she would be attending in the evening so she could not bring Humphrey. To make up for that fact, she brought me a pizza from Pieology, so I tried the cauliflower crust pizza. I thought it was wonderful as a fresh pizza, but not as strong as leftovers. The gluten-free crust held up much better on the reheat. I had asked for pesto sauce but they put ordinary red sauce on instead. It was still good, but I really like my pesto sauce. I will emphasize that in the special order section next time.
Sunday, August 4th
I wrote Monday through Thursday of the weekly blog and left the rest for Monday. I watched some Netflix, as I have been caught up watching Paramount+ for days now. I really like the show Evil, and I love that I get to watch The Daily Show and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert the day after they both air. I also worked on getting the August essay posted to Facebook.
The cover photo this week is Humphrey resting on my bed from the nice long visit last Saturday. I love how relaxed he looks. I just love any time he and I can be in the same room. I will try harder to write the days entry on that day since I always get more detail in when I do that. Have a great week!
