"The Pink Panther” - April 15-21/24

Monday, April 15th

M and I both like it when mom enjoys the movie and she remembered enjoying Peter Sellers and his interpretation OF Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the movie “The Pink Panther." I thought it would be appropriate to start at the beginning of the "Pink Panther" series. I was wrong. Although this was not “A Shot in the Dark", which was the first movie in which the inspector appears, he is still a minor character in the movie. The title refers to the large pink diamond that everyone is attempting to steal. Mom started falling asleep and we did not finish the movie. She laughed every time Peter Sellers showed up, he just was not on screen enough. I will find a "Pink Panther" movie filled with Peter Sellers.

They moved my bed into the dining room so we could watch the movie in private and not cause anyone any annoyance. Mom and M were a bit irritated that I had to move, but I thought they were crazy. It was a much bigger room, we could lower the lights and not worry about the volume. Anyway, we all agreed to go back to everyone make a selection and pick one of the three suggestions to watch. I think people are ready to expand the suggestions to more than just comedies, but I will balk at any straight dramas or period pieces. I already am in danger of drifting off to sleep and I fear those would do it even quicker.

J helped me get my profile on Reddit set up. I had joined the Assistive Technology community and we found the MS community, which I also joined. I will have to find or start a thread for old-timers like me. This is another place where you could easily spend hours reading and responding to posts.you

I mentioned last week that I had signed up for a month of AppleCare. I have called four or five times now and I regularly stump the very nice and helpful person helping me. Sometimes it's because I'm asking about Voice Control, a little known but very powerful part of the iPhone, but sometimes it's just something not unusual but I am using it in an unusual way. On one call, I finally was transferred to the supervisor, who said to me that I was very tech-savvy. I told her that I had worked with AutoCAD and when I was in high school, I took Computer programming classes. You obviously remember that stuff. I do know my way around an if-then statement. I could tell she was happy to talk to someone who knew their way around a computer. My mind is very sharp, even if my body is very, very slow.

The usual chat with my therapist and session with my mom and A.

Friday, April 19th

I swear I had something to say for today but I have forgotten it. I really have to make notes if I don't write something down that day.

Saturday, April 20th

My sister came by quickly. She got a new client who is in jail and she needs to file paperwork so she can visit them as their lawyer. She was able to stop by the AT&T Store and order a hotspot for me so I can have a Wi-Fi network that is secure and all to myself. That will be nice. She also was able to bring me food from WF. I got the Chesapeake shrimp salad, sweet potatoes and Broccoli crunch salad. I am looking forward to eating that! We also ordered an iPad Pro for me from Best Buy. She gets points from purchases and she will get a lot from that purchase. I think it was a savings of $50, but every little bit helps, I guess. Mom will bring it on Monday. M will help me set it up. I need to order a case for it.

My stepbrother and his wife stopped by to say hi. They live on the other side of the island but they come into town every couple of weeks and saying hi to me is part of their routine. Lucky me! They always stop by a nearby Thai food restaurant and pick up something for me. Pad Thai or whatever I get lasts four or five dinners. That, along with the food that my sister brought, means I do not need to eat the hospital dinners all week! Sweet!

Sunday, April 21st

When there are only a couple of CNA's for the floor, I sometimes need to get a bed bath instead of a gurney shower. As luck would have it, that happened for my last two showers. That is unusual. I also did not have my regular CNA for either of my last two shower days. My regular day CNA, M, was surprised to hear I had not had a real shower for so long. So we broke that streak and had a real shower. Wonderful! Except for the fact that the warm water was in very short supply. So it was a quick shower. Whatever. I am nice and clean. It really feels good.

I slept last night but not for Long enough and I am very tired today. More than usual. I told my evening CNA, S, and she will put me to bed early. Yay! The photo for this weeks post is from last week Saturday when my sister brought Humphrey and he snuggled on my hand. Enjoy!
