M suggested this supposed thriller from 1983 starring William Hurt and Lee Marvin. I think the word supposed tells you all you need to know about our opinion on the film. We watched half of it and then mom and M had to go, and we did not feel compelled to come back to the movie. It was agonizingly slow, although it was free on Prime. So if you want a movie that you only need to half watch, this would be it.

Another wonderful massage by R. Oh! I forgot to tell you I got a new roommate a couple weeks ago. She's a little old Japanese lady who’s 102! I tried to say hi the last time I was up in my chair, but she is mostly blind and very hard of hearing. As you imagine, one could be at that age. The CNA tried to introduce me, but it just wasn't working. I think when she is familiar with the voice, she can hear it much better. She did not understand who I was and why she should give a crap, so she couldn't hear me. I would love to talk with her, but not if I am a stranger. If there is an opportunity later, I will take it.

It's always nice to anticipate an upcoming fun activity and I have two—Thanksgiving tomorrow and my birthday on Saturday! Yippee! What fun I am about to have!
Thursday, November 28th
The taxi picked me up at 11 a.m., so I got to Mom's early. When everyone was there, it was my mom, my sister, my aunt, my cousin and a good friend of my mom's. We usually split the cooking duties, but as my mom and my aunt are 83 and 85, they decided to take a year off and order the dinner from Foodland supermarket. They picked up everything and stuck it in the oven.
They had ordered potatoes, but they had been frozen so they turned into potato soup. (You can't freeze potatoes!) Other than that, it was all delicious. Mom made candied yams which were really good. The meal came with a good pumpkin pie, which is not easy to do (they get boring quickly) and my sister made a gluten-free angel food cake. She has been perfecting that for a while now, and she's good at it. A wonderful meal and everyone got leftovers! Yum!

I had my plate of leftovers for dinner tonight. Really yummy! I wanted to finish Thanksgiving dinner so I would be ready for my birthday lunch tomorrow. This is the closest my birthday gets to Thanksgiving. If my birthday was on a Thursday it would be the last week of the month, and I believe Thanksgiving is always the third Thursday of the month. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the lull between the storms.
Saturday, November 30th
As it turned out, they got me up in my chair early, and I wanted to charge my phone some more, so I sat near my bed. The lady in the bed behind me on the opposite side of the wall is also not clearheaded, but when she saw me sitting so close to her, she turned and started talking to me. “Are you a patient?" she asked. Obviously, she has her lucid periods as well. “Yes, I am in the bed behind you, on the other side of the wall.” I answered. “The other side of the yard?" she asked, puzzled. And we’re out. I find it fascinating how reality and delusion can be so closely intermingled. She is also a nice lady caught up in her fantasies.
Mom met me here and rode with me in the taxi so she could show the driver where to drop me off. It was a very modern Japanese restaurant close to Mom's building. Mom, her best friend, husband and son (the now famous M), my aunt, cousin, and my sister were all there. I had the eel, which seemed adventurous to some but was downright delicious! My sister has taken on feeding duties anytime we are together, as she knows Mom and I can clash, and she and I have similar tastes. I had a piece of uzu (sp?) cheesecake, which was spectacular. I got some chicken à la carte for dinner and then went back to the hospital.
My sister came by later to give me dinner and hang out. Our time together is Saturdays so I wanted that and I wanted to counter the inevitable letdown of having to come back here. She was happy to do that and helped me put some more cards on the wall. I have filled the wall space in front of me and I am starting to fill the narrow wall on the left. We also watched season 1 episode 1 of Lioness on Paramount+. I found that entire season riveting, so now we can watch it together!
Sunday, December 1st
It's been a busy week, so I haven't had time to write anything for my blog yet. Now it's time to write and I just don't wanna do it. Waah! (That's me throwing a minor temper tantrum.) I wrote Monday and Tuesday and decided that was enough so I continued watching Halloween Baking Challenge. Wrong Holiday! Oh well, it's something to watch and it's fun.
If you were waiting for an array of pictures from Thanksgiving or my birthday, wait no longer as there aren't any. We frequently forget to take pictures because we are too busy actually interacting. Of course, I regret not taking any pictures, as my dress looked good. (Thanks again for that, P!) So I had M take a picture of me with one of my birthday presents—a lovely picture of a kitty lounging on a tree branch! I love it! Mom's best friend made it herself! Yay! Have a great week!
