I have really been enjoying Criterion’s movies and I've already paid for the subscription so I like using it. This month they have some good collections, including one called Cast Against Type. These are movies where actors who usually play good guys are bad guys and vice versa. This movie was in there, and M said it was a very good western, and one where the director Howard Hawks got a good performance out of John Wayne, who can be rather wooden sometimes. It's also Cliff Montgomery’s first film.
By the time we started the movie, we only had an hour before Mom and M had to go, but we decided it was better to see half of a good movie than all of a bad movie. It was good, and John Wayne is younger than I am used to seeing him, but, as usual, the older movies are rather misogynistic. JW doesn't want to take the girl with them because it will be too dangerous and then the wagon train she is with gets raided by Indians and everyone is killed. Good job! The first in a string of not-nice guy decisions he makes. I look forward to finishing the movie.

This whole week was largely uneventful. I can always talk about the movie we watch on Monday, but after that, things get pretty monotonous until the weekend. The massage is great, but sometimes it interrupts me when I have just started watching something. Of course, I am very interruptible so I set that aside and allow R to rub me all over. This is what you would call a ’first world problem’. Nobody is going to cry, least of all me, about having to pause a TV show in order to get a massage.

I was going to get up in my chair after my shower, but M did not come to work so I ended up getting a bed bath from my helper D. He takes his time and I took advantage of that and walked him through how to give me a complete, but quick as he could, bed bath. When done right, it can be almost as good as a shower, so in the end I felt very clean. That is the important thing. I didn't get up, but I was clean.

Another Freddie day! I do like having him visit, although he was very restless today. He went back in his carrier after about 10 minutes. At the end of the hour, he came out of the carrier again and my neighbor was awake so he said hello to her. I like to do this to buy me goodwill with my next-door neighbor so she can never get too mad at me. My therapist understands that and doesn't mind spending a couple of minutes with her for my sake. Thank you! Then he came back and said goodbye to me. I really do need to try to talk to him again and see if I can reconnect with him.

I spent a lot of time this week watching movies and TV shows. Then I think about the things I could be doing, like writing the essay for next month. I wish the essays poured out of me like the LA one did, but that was very particular. The more I listen to podcasts talking about our democracy and how T and his administration will act, the more nervous I get, but we will just have to see how things go.

My sister came over around 12:30 with sushi from Whole Foods. Mom had brought me sushi on Monday from Foodland grocery store that just wasn't as good. What can I say? I love Whole Foods. I like having lunch with a visitor as it isn't so rushed and the food is either better, or it tastes better because I'm not in a rush to eat it.
We also watched the penultimate episode of the first season of Lioness. The last episode of the first season is, I thought, very exciting, but you have to watch the whole season to build up to it properly. So the next time we watch, it will be that episode! I can't wait! It’s shows like this that make a subscription to Paramount+ worth it, in my opinion. Really, it's Survivor, The Daily Show and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that made the subscription necessary for me.

The only downside to getting sushi is there are no leftovers. I don't ever want to leave the raw fish for the next day, but if it is just vegetables or avocado, I can. So when my sister gets sushi, she will get a package of California roll so I can have it the next day. Then I get to have sushi for breakfast! It's really quite yummy! It's not quite as fresh as the day you bought it, but it's still completely acceptable. So that was my breakfast today!
Mom stopped by at 11 am. I was supposed to have an appointment with the Feldenkris lady, but she wasn't feeling well and had canceled. We watched a recording of a previous session and did some of the exercises. Then she gave me lunch, which was shrimp pad Thai that my stepbrother and his wife had brought me on Saturday. Yum! I have three days to eat outside food before it could be thrown away from the refrigerator.
The cover photo is me in one of my fun new T-shirts. This one is, of course, Bugs Bunny! I am Warner Brothers/Looney Tunes all the way! No Mickey Mouse for this Gen X-er. Give me cartoons with a little attitude.
