Shower Day

It's a shower day! That means when I get changed, I don't get a new diaper put on. I will take a shower soon and have a new diaper put on after that. No biggie.

I started writing this before the shower, and I am finishing it after the shower. M is my main morning CNA, and she knows me pretty well by now. It took a few months, but we are on the same page. She gets my sense of humor and we make each other laugh. Lately, she and L have been giving me a shower together. This makes things go very quickly, which is good. It's a little chaotic feeling two sets of hands cleaning you all over. Luckily, it doesn't last for a long time. I try not to think of the animals at the circus getting hosed down behind the tents, but that's the comparable feeling to me. At least I am clean at the end of it.

I get a suppository every other day. They wake me out of a dead sleep and immediately ask me if I want one that day. I have been sleeping so soundly that it is difficult for me to answer this accurately. This morning, I thought I had not had one yesterday, so I said yes. I was wrong. I had got one yesterday and getting them 2 days in a row makes things looser. To make things worse, they gave it to me very early, which means I am sitting in things for a long time before I get changed. I need to remember to ask them if I had one the day before.

I have them put a folded paper towel between my legs, which helps prevent the poop from going where it shouldn't. Even so, the skin between my legs was very red and raw. Then, the skin split open a little bit during the shower. Luckily, it should heal soon and I don't feel it now. I remember when a shower was a relaxing thing that felt good. Now, showers and meals are things to get through as quickly as possible.

I wanted to get something out as I had been talking about posting daily. I am speaking a little bit slower and enunciating more so there are fewer mistakes to correct. That makes writing this easier to do. Now I will see if I can post this myself.
